Applications of Raman Spectroscopy in Immunology

（免疫学へのラマン分光法の応用）

　大阪大学Alison Hobro先生による講演会を開催しますのでご案内します。Hobro先生は日本学術振興会の援助で佐賀大学にも滞在されたことのあるEwan Blanch先生（RMIT大学）のお弟子さんで、分子分光法の一つであるラマン分光法を基盤技術として用い、免疫学への応用研究を展開されています。多数ご参加頂きますようご案内申し上げます。

概要

In one part I will talk about how we have used Raman spectroscopy to study several aspects of malaria infection. Using single point Raman spectroscopy we have been able to identify the presence of malaria infection in blood and plasma, and using Raman imaging we have been able to study the changes within immune cells after exposure to hemozoin (a byproduct of malaria infection). In the other part I will talk about how Raman spectroscopy can be used to study RNA structure and show some examples from important RNA regulatory elements found within untranslated regions of genes.
