“Raman Optical Activity of macro- and supramolecules engaged in non-covalent interactions”

Non-covalent forces play a very important role in stabilizing macro- and supramolecular structures, as well as in associated processes like chiral amplification or chirality transfer. Raman optical activity (ROA) can be used as a sensitive tool to detect these unique phenomena, as well as to track structural changes induced by carotenoid aggregation or protein complexation. Moreover, the interpretation of ROA using density functional theory and molecular dynamics modeling helps to unravel an intricate supramolecular structure with multiple carotenoid–carotenoid interactions.
