In our laboratory, we investigate structure-function relationships of biological system in atomic details. Especially, we mainly use photoreceptor proteins as an ideal system for such studies. We also develop a new spectroscopic tool that explores protein structures such as Raman optical activity (ROA) spectroscopy. We also use molecular dynamics (MD) calculations as well as quantum chemical calculations such as density functional theory (DFT) to interpret the observed experimental results.
